Dinky - Slowly (CRM171)

Closely following the release of her critically acclaimed album 'Valor', trained musician Dinky releases the second single from the album on Crosstown Rebels. The stunning 'Slowly' also gets the remix treatment from fellow Panorama Bar favorites and Berliners Matthew Styles and Radio Slave.

Dinky's 'Valor' as a body of work tells a deeply personal narrative, made during a period where her life was in danger during a troubled pregnancy. Recognized by Mixmag as 'the most accomplished - and definitely the most personal' of her six albums to date, where 'the resultant project turned out to be a passionate and beautiful work'.

'Slowly', like most of the tracks on the album is centered around Dinky's illustrious vocals. Resident Advisor said of the vocals "[I can see that I'm losing you slowly] is as poignant as the song's fragile piano". Dinky explains "Slowly" is the most special song on the album to her, 'It represents in its pure essence where melancholy and freedom meet. The song was written in a difficult moment where I had to let go of a lot of fears and just accept. It's a song about detachment where losing can be a gain'

Matthew Styles is a highly respected DJ and producer who as the first label manager of Crosstown Rebels has since made his way as a producer in his own right releasing on the likes of Ostgut Ton and his own Running Back Records that he runs with Gerd Janson. His remix takes the song to euphoric heights with its infectious bassline and impressive disposition. Dinky reveals that 'Matthew knew the song and its meaning so well that he captured its spirit perfectly'.

Matt Edwards Aka Radio Slave is also back on the label since his highly celebrated remix of Aphrohead last year. Owner of Rekids, matt recently released 'Vision', which celebrated 10 years of the label. Here for his first remix, he delivers a pulsating beat, intricate in its ethereal chords and vocals. For his second remix he conjures a stripped down, minimalistic version with broken percs and fervid synths for a beautiful and compelling effect.

Serge Devant - This Moment (CRM168)

The magic of music is how it can enchant you after just moments of listening. As the summer draws to an end Serge Devant returns once more to Damian Lazarus's Crosstown Rebels with a release that does just that. Creating two original tracks and bringing Dinky and NU onboard for remixes, we are reminded of his prominent position within Dance Music.

"It's taken some time for this moment to see the light of day...nearly year and half, but it's probably the most anticipated record yet. Ever since Damian put it on his Essential Mix a year ago, every other day someone would ask when it's out. Well the wait is finally over and the moment is here. Enjoy!" Serge Devant.

Opening up the EP with "This Moment", Devant has created a track that implores the listener to stop and take in all the vibrations, effects and melodies. This is a piece of music that intricately weaves together a hefty bass, curious sounds and an effective hom. Pay close attention to 'In Time' and you will be absorbed once more in an enchanting world where all you can do is follow the rhythm of the drums. Devant continues to tirelessly build on his status with releases on Emerald City, Rebellion and Knee Deep In Sound whilst also covering the globe with his touring schedule.

Dinky adds her signature vocals, synths and an incredibly pleasing warmth to her remix of 'This Moment'. German DJ and producer NU also rises to the remix duty as here he creates an almost unrecognizable version of 'This Moment', but one that fits perfectly, as images of heady Bedouin nights are conjured and dance before your eyes. An affiliate of Acid Pauli, NU will once more return to Crosstown Rebels next year when the pivotal 'Man O To' is re-released.

2. In Time
3. This Moment (Dinky Dub Remix)
4. This Moment (NU Remix)

Dinky - Valor (CRMCD033)

'Valor' tells a deeply personal narrative for Chilean born and Berlin based DJ and producer Dinky, made during a period where her life was in danger, her sixth album acts as a pinnacle to her steadfast and illustrious career and brought on a momentous change to her personal journey.

Esteemed for her decade long DJ residency at Berlin's imfamous Panorama Bar and past productions on labels such as Cocoon, Visionquest and Crosstown Rebels, Dinky AKA Alejandra Iglesias is a trained classical guitarist, singer and keyboard player. Her voice is an anchor to 'Valor', it's crisp definition loaded with intensity.

Tracks such as the driving single 'Casa' called out by US giants NPR for it's 'gorgeously layered vocals' and the fragile layers of guitar and synths on cuts like 'Milk' make bold unions between electronics and Dinky's live instrumentation. 'Valor' is undoubtedly a feminine creation, yet speaks with a power and strength of a woman with a clear sense of direction and flows with a subtle energy of potent potential.

'Valor in Spanish means "courage" but it's also the first letters of both my sons Valentin and Orlando combined', explains Dinky. 'This album is a personal journey through motherhood and pregnancy as an artist. My life took an 180 degrees turn after my first son was born in 2014. I was labelled a high risk, and with the new pregnancy again in 2015 with my younger boy I was ordered to stay in bed for more than 3 months, otherwise the risk of losing him was too high. My husband built a studio for me in the corner of our bedroom, he took care of everything and I just tried to stay as quiet as possible. Every little pain or movement I dreaded losing my son'.

'At the beginning I felt completely depressed lying in bed staring at my belly but I decided to challenge my energy and write this album. I wrote it in a total pregnant state for my husband and sons, by the time I was 8 months I could barely sustain notes and my singing was a little rusty but it was personal and came from an important part of my heart'.

Damian Lazarus and Dinky have been friends for many years, leading to many singles and compilations on his Crosstown Rebels label in the past. 'We have worked together on some pretty special projects in that time, but this new album is by far the most exciting yet. Combining her beautiful voice and expert musical knowledge and ability, she has delivered her most captivating and beautiful music yet, music that transcends genre, that takes you to a place that only a woman with her creativity and abstract yet familiar musical thought patterns could deliver. This really is a special moment for me and for Crosstown Rebels to be lucky enough to release such a unique and special record'.

Dinky - Casa (CRM163)

Chilean born and berlin based Dinky has forged a solid and illustrious career over the past decade. 'Casa' announces her new album set for release on Damian Lazarus's Crosstown Rebels this autumn, with remixes from Axel Boman and Satori.

A trained classical guitarist, singer and keyboard player that has held a DJ residency at Berlin's infamous Panorama Bar since 2004, Dinky's sixth album, also titled 'Casa' will be the first since the birth of her two children. 'Casa is an acid vocal love song. It translates as house in spanish, not because it's a house album but because it was recorded in my house in Berlin whilst I was pregnant with my second son. I had to stay home (mainly in bed) for months due to a medical risk. Those were very scary times for me and my family as we were told we could lose him. It was a such difficult journey but I decided not to get down, but to channel my energy into writing music.'

Dinky's delicate vocal on 'Casa' is both uptempo and spacious, with infusions of acid, leftfield and electronica in its veins. Axel Boman delivers a stunning, emotive and epic nine and a half minute dub version, overlaid with spoken words samples referring to lost experiences. The Swedish born producer is much-lauded for his releases on DJ Koze's Pampa, Permanent Vacation and his own imprint, Studio Barnhus, formed with Kornel Kovacs and Petter Nordkvist of Border Community. While the hedonistic take from Satori
takes 'Casa' up beyond the horizon. A future Crosstown Rebels artist, Satori  has released on 8bit Records, Under Your Skin and Bla Bla Records.

'For me it's a very honest project and Damian loved it so I was more than happy to work with him again. Dinky enthuses on the long friendship that they have shared. 'After taking a few years of intense touring, I felt ready to tour again and release my sixth album. Many of the songs were written for my sons, my husband, motherhood, love and also things that were happening in the world at the time'

'Casa' sees a return to form for Dinky and a welcome return to the Crosstown imprint, after releasing a single and a mix album for the pioneering label.

Dinky - Sealed (CRM087)

Dinky
Sealed

Crosstown Rebels retain their untouchable high standard as they delve into the blissfully advanced musical world of Dinky. ‘Sealed’ is a two-track treasure through driving deep house and effortlessly smooth techno, embodying that special touch only Dinky can deliver.
Title track ‘Sealed’ showcases an intricate weave of percussion and electronic stabs straddled across a rounded warping bass that dominates the depths of this delicious cut of driving tech-house. A Balearic tinged vocal, sung by the stunningly talented producer herself develops and steers the track along a new avenue, while an undulating LFO below the rhythm engages and disengages by going in and out of time, causing a stir in the rhythmic dynamic and securing this track as one of true class and complexity.
B-side ‘Eeled’ steams in with a seriously powerful bass and clap that drives the housier of the two cuts, while pacey and at times erratic electronic keys creep in to provide a prominent element to this dance floor treat. The surging energy and illustrious sound quality riding throughout both tracks showcase Dinky at her absolute best and prove why Crosstown Rebels are proud to have her in the family.
Chilean producer and leading light, Alejandra Iglesias aka Dinky has been riding at the forefront of her game for considerable time now and each move she makes seems to elevate her further and further from the pack. Her latest venture on Crosstown Rebels is clearly no exception. No stranger in the Rebels camp, Dinky stepped up to the mark for the third in the Get Lost series and recently featured on the Get Lost 4 compilation mixed by Damian Lazarus. Also fresh from her recent smash ‘Time To Lose It EP’ on Visionquest and her seamless contribution to the profoundly acclaimed ‘Wagon Repair All-Stars’, Dinky has been maximizing her already sky high status reeling out a string of releases that ooze her musically influenced background and passionate eclecticism. The future in Dinky Land shines even brighter with anticipation mounting for her exciting new project with Matthew Styles forthcoming on the unstoppable Crosstown Rebels next year.
