Aidan Lavelle - Direction EP (RBL018)

A firm favourite in the Rebellion camp, prolific producer Aidan Lavelle makes his third appearance on the imprint this time with the immense ‘Direction EP’, comprising of three outstanding big room tracks that will blow your mind. Powerful build ups and epic breakdowns will dominate the dancefloor while trippy FX, rolling grooves and deep tribal undertones will circulate the atmosphere with Aidan’s vocoder enhanced vocals adding a real stand out element. All three tracks are to be played loud for full effect and maximum destruction on the dancefloor.

Accomplished composer and producer, Aidan Lavelle has worked with a number of worldclass artists including U.N.K.L.E Gorillaz, Ian Brown, Queens Of The Stone Age and Massive Attack.

Having built up an illustrious body of work in television and film music, last May saw him take a step back into the realms of underground dance music with his debut solo release on Rebellion, the ‘Tinnitus EP’. While also remixing for the likes of Layo & Bushwacka and Betoko, the highly successful‘Get Yourself EP’ followed in December on Rebellion receiving huge support from the likes of Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show. Aidan´s releases are being supported by a wide range of artists including James Holden, Richie Hawtin and Solomun.

Aside from building up a busy touring schedule and playing alongside Damian Lazarus at the Rebellion Rave in London and the Crosstown Rebel’s Warehouse Project date in Manchester last year, Aidan is also working on a solo album under the name Modal, whilst continuing to create sound design and score for film and planning more underground dance music releases and remixes.

Francesca Lombardo - What To Do (CRM115)

Fast-rising Rebel queen Francesca Lombardo is back on Crosstown with her seductive new single ‘What To Do’ featuring remixes from Infinity Ink, Matrixxman and a Luca Cazal Dub. Showcasing Francesca’s undeniable raw talent and pure, fluid vocal flair, ‘What To Do’ is another example of the producer’s sublime song composition in an electronic framework. The sultry mood evoked by Francesca’s voice wraps around the infectious melody as spooky ethereal tones rise and fall with the subtly driving groove. Infinity Ink strip down the elements with mechanical precision, injecting some darker bass and a more solid kick. Matrixxman revels in the twilight zone and delivers an alternative trippy tapestry of jagged synth stabs and melodic bleeps with only waves of the vocal. Luca Cazal’s Dub is a perfect late night builder with added sonic textures.

Francesca Lombardo has rapidly become one exceptionally indemand lady on the scene. Fully inaugurated into the Rebels camp, the Italian London based DJ/producer and classically trained vocalist released her first two highly acclaimed ‘Changes’ and ‘Eyes Of Nature’ EPs on Crosstown Rebels and is gearing up for a debut album release on the label next year plus a much coveted appearance on the Rebel Heart stage at Burning Man 2013. Francesca also recently debuted in the Boiler Room with a magical live set, coming soon.

Infinity Ink is London/Ibiza based duo Ali Love and Luca C (the latter of which delivers the dub for this package). Infinity Ink have been taking over dancefloors and the air waves under various guises, delivering last year’s summer anthem ‘Infinity’ on Crosstown Rebels and also ‘Benediction’ and‘Reverse Skydiving’ as part of super house group Hot Natured.

Charles McCloud Duff aka Matrixxman is purportedly a man trapped in a realm of unending 3D avatars roaming lost amongst dystopian digital wastelands. Matrixxman´s debut EP ‘The XX Files’ received critical acclaim from Pitchfork, The Fader, Spin and Fact Magazine while garnering support from the likes of Damian Lazarus, Jeff Mills, Josh Wink, Boris of Ostgut Ton, Trevino and Dubfire. His own imprint Soo Wavey is a purveyor of brutally futuristic interpretations of classic WBMX era Chicago house and Detroit techno.

DAVI - Two Suns In The Sky EP (RBL017)

Capturing the essence of the Crosstown Rebels and Robot Heart experience at Burning Man, DAVI’s selection of deep melodic odysseys for Rebellion are awash with the other-worldly magic of the Playa. A-side ‘Rebel Heart’ fuses ancient Eastern melodies with moody bass and mystical arrangements. Second track ‘Anunnaki’ (a name denoting a group of deities in ancient Mesopotamian cultures) continues the theme of spellbinding, earthy tones and on the remix, Mark Jenkyns toughens up ‘Rebel Heart’ with a squelchy acid-flecked bassline, solid kicks and overlays of his own wonky synth structures. Last but not least the masterstroke ‘Two Suns In The Sky’ hypnotises the soul with rolling drum beats and epic chords as waves of spooky energy and polyrhythms punctuate the cosmic sunrise soundscape.

The Rebel Heart party helped me find myself at Burning Man last year. The music was new and inspirational and I felt it deep inside of me. I was back in my studio within 2 days of returning from the desert, fired up by this new direction and I think I managed to create my own spin on this most magical experience and of course I sent it to Crosstown straight away".

For Armenian born 20-year-old David “DAVI” Khanjian, 2012 was a breakthrough year - with a South American tour, the release of a monster remix of Underworld’s anthem ‘Two Month’s Off’’ and playing a set to 50,000 people at Burning Man festival - a life-changing experience that inspired this EP.

After relocating to LA after attending the prestigious Komitas State Music Conservatory in Armenia, DAVI’s production career began to take off and a chance meeting with a personal hero Robert Babicz led to him doing the first ever remix for Robert’s new label Babiczstyle. Later releases came on labels such as Bits & Pieces, Armada, Outside The Box, Treibstoff, Anjunadeep and Hope Recordings.

South Shields’ finest Mark Jenkyns first appeared on the first two Hot Waves compilations, and is now a force to be reckoned with on the underground circuit with upcoming releases on the Paradise summer sampler on Hot Creations and Alex Arnout’s Dogmatik imprint.
