SIS - Sombra India (CRM146)

Back onboard Crosstown Rebels, prolific DJ and producer SIS gets set to release the latin infused "Sombra India" featuring vocals from Eduardo Castillo who also provides a stunning remix.

"Last November I went to Pampa in Argentina to learn and become a master of Doma India, the way to tame horses ina gentle, peaceful way. I went to a taverna in Tucuman where Mercedes Sosa used to play back in the day. When I first listened to the original I got back flashes and every time when I listen to it I get goose bumps. The original is the inspiration for my track. The reaction in my sets is so lovely when I play it. Sometimes it's my opener and closer, as I love to do that sometimes in my sets, ending as it's begun." SIS.

The exotic "Sombra India" gets to work with slick guitar licks and a driving beat, enhanced with powerful and captivating vocals from Eduardo Castillo. Filled with energy, the Afro-House 'Sanura' is highly exotic as it transports you on a journey from the dancefloor. Eduardo Castillo's remix of 'Sombra India' takes a deeper otherworldly tone, one you can imagine hearing as the sun rises at the likes of Burning Man.

German native SIS shot into the limelight in 2008 with releases on Cecille and Ricardo Villalobos' label Sei Es Drum, which up until that point had only showcased Ricardo's own productions. No stranger to the Crosstown Rebels catalogue, he delivered the first ever Rebellion release and then later the 'Round Pen EP' on Crosstown Rebels in the summer of 2012 and the more recent 'Slider' on Rebellion. Other productions have appeared on esteemed labels such as Cocoon, 8Bit, Connaisseur, Get Physical, with a more recent album on Cocolino.

Eduardo Castillo is also a welcomed return to the Crosstown Rebels label and is the founder of the infamous VOODOO and HABITAS events from Los Angeles.

Pirupa - Cristallo (RBL028)

Italian-born Pirupa makes his debut on the Crosstown Rebels sub-label Rebellion with 'Cristallo', while Maher Daniel supplies the remix.

'This is a special EP for me. "Cristallo" is very significant to me, I made it in 2014 while inspired by my stay in Ibiza last August and the magic of the island, with its hot and sexy sounds; while 'Save A Prayer' was created more recently in April, inspired by my last tour in the US where lots of particular things have happened. I am very happy with the work done and especially to debut on a label very important to me from an artist like Damian Lazarus, who I respect and have respected for over 10 years, since I started as a DJ and producer".  Pirupa.

The opening track 'Cristallo' immediately transports you to the White Isle, with its steel drums bringing the rhythm, an infectious beat, and a breakdown to cause chaos. Next up is the Maher Daniel remix of  'Cristallo', and a heavier bassline and trippy effects. The final track 'Save A Prayer' is a siren to the dancefloor, with a gnawing beat and a drop that proves with Pirupa is supported by so many.

Pirupa has already achieved so much in a relatively short space of time. He regularly DJ's at worldwide events, was ranked #11 in Top 100 Most Charted Artists of 2010 on Resident Advisor. His tracks 'Sweet Devil' and 'Get Funky' both reached No.1 in the Beatport chart, whilst 'Party Non Stop' was awarded 'The Track Of The Season' at the 2012 Ibiza DJ Awards and reached No.1 in the Beatport tech-house chart.

Pirupa has previously released on Desolat, Saved, Snatch! Records, Rebirth, Noir Music, Defected and D-FLOOR. He has also been supported by Luciano, Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Steve Lawler and Carl Cox among others.

Canadian born Maher Daniel was a perfect choice for remix duty as he always brings great energy to all that he is involved in. 2013 saw him join Dubfire's 'The Bullit Agency' whilst also releasing on Souvenir Music, No.19 Music, Rejected, Leftroom and Circus Recordings.

Aphrohead - Resurrection (CRMCD031)

Early nineties techno hero Aphrohead announces his 'Resurrection' with an innovative new album for Crosstown Rebels.

A musical eccentric, prolific US DJ and producer Felix Stallings AKA Aphrohead/Felix Da Housecat has never been afraid to take risks and break new ground, consistently captivating the electronic music field for over two decades. He first burst onto the club scene in 1993 as Aphrohead with the timeless classic 'In Thee Dark We Live' which was licensed countless times and is benchmarked as one of the greatest techno records of all time.

Taking an interstellar loop between the beats of techno and warmth of electro, 'Resurrection' is a playful psychedelic cocktail of synths and languid beats. 'I missed making techno and Chicago jackin' beats' explains Felix of the new project, 'I call this sound I'm working on Train Music because once it's on thee groove, I like it to remain on tracks, no breaks no gimmicks just straight driving force.'

The first half of the album, featuring title track, 'Klymaxx' and 'Come To Me' is an escort to higher plains, pleasing fans of Daft Punk and Giorgio Moroder. Before the previously released single 'Let's Prance' brings its futuristic tremors shifting the album into a new gear. The second part of the album brings a long-anticipated eruption, starting with the sinister sneer of 'Elevator' and the bohemian cries of 'Grown Man Cry', also previously released on Crosstown Rebels to great acclaim.

The games commence for '1KING 1QUEEN', taking it tortuous acid frequencies into the closing moments of 'Medusa' and 'Sashe Sashe Sashe'. This is where the Aphrohead of old resides, bringing down the roots of the system and creating a new set of rules. 'I was inspired by Chicago Trax Label, Dance Mania and Transmat labels as well as Axis (Jeff Mill's early imprint), Stallings says of Resurrection, 'Aphrohead is my dirty of thee dirty, mixing live analogue beats capturing thee magic recording on the first take, rockin 4 walls of thee most primitive dancefloors around thee globe. Pure underground, no filter. I feel and believe thee time is NOW for thee Resurrection'.

Aphrohead created a precedent in 90's techno on halcyon labels Bush, Global Cuts, Power Music, Thee Black Label & Radical fear. His Felix Da Housecat alias went on to form the epicentre of the electro-clash scene and it was through this alias his friendship began with Crosstown rebels pioneer Damian Lazarus, then at City Rockers. Stallings has remixed some of the biggest selling artists of the past few decades including Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, Madonna and Gwen Stefani.

Crosstown Rebels started their mission in 2003 powered by a modern electronic canon spearheaded by Damian Lazarus. The label has inspired countless unforgettable dance floor moments and nurtured many universally adored music makers including Jamie Jones and Art Department. Soon to be entering its twelfth year at the forefront of future-moving dance music, Crosstown Rebels remains the electronic pioneering force of the past decade. With recent artist album from Lazarus himself, retro-futurist Citizenn and Skream on the horizon, Aphrohead will be the triumphant finale of an electric hat trick for 2015 on the seminal imprint.
