Subb-An - Vapour Trails (CRM136)

After the huge success of ‘Say No More’ featuring Azari & III’s Cedric at the beginning of the year, Birmingham bred Subb-an is back on board Crosstown Rebels to deliver yet another incredible release. ‘Vapour Trails’ is a solid, driving club track with that distinct Subb-an sound featuring highly captivating vocals from Amsterdam’s The Million Plan. Also directed straight at the dancefloor with a deep hypnotic breakdown, the ‘Terrace Dub’perfectly fits into the series of ‘Terrace’ remixes the talented producer has released lately. Specifically requested as remixer by Subb-an, legend Matthew Herbert delivers a completely new musical adaptation with fantastic use of the vocal that plays out as the track constantly evolves. On the b-side ‘Oasis’leads with swinging grooves, progressing into prominent hats, a unique stabbing bassline and a trippy vocal from Whitney Fierce formerly of Hercules & Love Affair. Released as digital only ‘Black Fire’ radiates a mysterious middle eastern ambience, with Whitney again providing the vocals over a more seductive track.

Now living in Berlin, Subb-an is a DJ, producer and one of the most exciting new British live acts of recent years due to his dedication and hard work. His prodigious studio talents have seen him release on Spectral, Crosstown Rebels, Visionquest and Cocoon. He also has another release forthcoming on his own One Records, now in its fifth year which he co-runs with Adam Shelton. Last year he joined the Crosstown Rebels crew on the 10 Years world tour playing multiple dates. This summer has seen him take his new live show on the road appearing at the likes of fabric, Warehouse Project in Manchester, Panorama Bar and Glastonbury where he closed the Genisys stage.

Willem de Bruin is one half of the The Million Plan whose vocals feature on the release. They are a duo from Amsterdam who are working on their first EP and are currently working with Sir OJ and Tom Trago

Musical genius Matthew Herbert ignores all boundaries. Playing the likes of British Sound Library for his Boiler Room show, he also recently took up residence with his band in a special studio in the carpentry of the deutsche opera Berlin to compose, record and mix an album from scratch in a week.

A classically trained vocalist and DJ in her own right, Whitney Fierce is a tour DJ for New Order alongside DJing for the likes Dior in Paris, Nylon in New York and the Mayor in LA.

Subb-An Feat. S.Y.F. - Say No More (CRM121)

Subb-an is back with one of the most hyped tracks to land on Crosstown Rebels in recent times. A  collaboration with Cedric from Azari & III under new moniker S.Y.F (Starving Yet Full), ‘Say No More’ shows the wunderkind producer on a wholly satisfying song-based tip. A killer weapon for any peak-time dancefloor, it’s a bumpy infectious ride with a wonky edge - steeped in the soul of Cedric’s vocals rolling over immaculately crafted grooves. The ‘Terrace Dub’ drops most of the vocal and takes a deeper darker turn, made with the DC-10 terrace in mind. Crosstown favourite Mathew Jonson takes over the B-side with a languorous, sprawling rework, weaving a squelching bassline into the bubbling soundbed with a backdrop of cosmic synths.

Subb-an’s rapid rise to prominence as a DJ, producer and one of the most exciting new British live acts of recent years is testament to his hard work, natural talent and wholehearted commitment to electronic music. Named as DJ Magazines ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ in their 2011 end of year awards, Subb-an’s prodigious studio talents have seen him release on Crosstown Rebels, Visionquest, Spectral, Saved, My Favourite Robot, his own flourishing imprint One Records and deliver much lauded remixes of Jamie Woon, Lana Del Ray, Noir & Haze and Hollis P Monroe the past couple of years. A protege of Damian Lazarus and Crosstown Rebels, Subb-an joined the crew on the 10 Years world tour last year playing multiple dates as well as featuring in the other-worldly Day Zero event this year and last. The hotly anticipated debut album is due in September on the label.

Fresh from delivering a package of ‘Blurry Remixes’ from Mathew Jonson’slatest album ‘Her Blurry Pictures’, Crosstown Rebels can’t get enough of this man’s studio masterstrokes. Jonson is one of the most well-respected names in electronic music with past releases on M_NUS, Perlon and his own Wagon Repair label. Jonson has recently focused on his Cobblestone Jazz outfit (an improvised live 3 piece collaboration techno project) and the extended four-piece, the Modern Deep Left Quartet as well as Midnight Operator (a raw, rough, uptempo partnership focusing on dancefloor bombs), each of which have earned him widespread success.

Just Be - Don't Make Me Wait For You (Feat. Jesse Monroe) (CRM112)

Just Be has been riding a wave of success in the past year and further cements this new incarnation with next installment for the mighty Crosstown Rebels. The massive ‘Don’t Make Me Wait For You’, featuring Jesse Monroe is a wonky slice of pent up tension and swelling moods, reminiscent of proto garage house classics with a touch of modern slinkiness. As the diva vocal narrative builds with a dirty bassline groove, hypnotic echoes of “Don’t Make Me Wait For You” propel the track higher to truly captivate the dancefloor. The more tangled ‘5am remix’ comes courtesy of Rebel wunderkind Subb-an.
 BACKGROUND
o Launching his career as Matthew B in the midst of the UK acid house explosion, Just Be’s identity and sound has undertaken many a metamorphosis, from Bushwacka!, The End Soundsystem, to Layo and Bushwacka! and now embarking on the ambitious solo project JUST BE.
