Just Be Feat. Jesse Monroe - Dip Your Finger (RBL038)

Music is often used as a mean to forget, escape and withdraw from the world around us. In some cases, it even has the ability to transport, and Just Be's 'Dip Your Finger EP' on Rebellion does just that. The UK born DJ and producer has created a four track release with accompanying vocals from the ethereal Jesse Monroe.

'I've been spent the last six months writing futurist electronica soundscapes for the big screen so it's been great to get back to my roots and produce some warm, moving house and tech music - and working with my beloved Jesse on the vocals again - I feel these tracks work both in the dance floor and for listening pleasure. Enjoy' Just Be.

'Dip Your Finger' opens up the EP with seven minutes of otherworldly goodness. Just Be seamlessly brings together Monroe's beautiful vocals with a range of sounds that sets the tone for an immensely warm and absorbing release. All the tracks follow on from each other with a real sense of consistency and the EP closes with a deeper edit of 'The Good Old Days', taking the listener into the final stages of an enchanting journey.

Just Be - Don't Make Me Wait For You (Feat. Jesse Monroe) (CRM112)

Just Be has been riding a wave of success in the past year and further cements this new incarnation with next installment for the mighty Crosstown Rebels. The massive ‘Don’t Make Me Wait For You’, featuring Jesse Monroe is a wonky slice of pent up tension and swelling moods, reminiscent of proto garage house classics with a touch of modern slinkiness. As the diva vocal narrative builds with a dirty bassline groove, hypnotic echoes of “Don’t Make Me Wait For You” propel the track higher to truly captivate the dancefloor. The more tangled ‘5am remix’ comes courtesy of Rebel wunderkind Subb-an.

Fur Coat Feat. Mel Blatt - Fall's Away (CRM107)

After the success of their debut album ´Mind Over Matter´ released on Crosstown Rebels earlier this year, Venezuelan duo Fur Coat return with ‘Fall´s Away’; one of the biggest cuts from the album which features the lush vocals of Mel Blatt and a killer pair of remixes from DJ Sneak and Just Be.
Deep warm pads, filtered toms and vocal chops open things up on the original version of Fall’s Away and after the introduction of a groove inflected kick and bass combo it becomes apparent that this one is going to be taking complete control of the dance floor. This notion is accentuated even more once Blatt´s soulful contribution enters the foray with its lyrical and vocal excellence.
On somewhat of a resurgence at present, house legend DJ Sneak does what he has done for the last 20 years and delivers a slice of up front house music straight out of the Chi-town text book. Fat kicks, swinging highs and a deep and driving low end are all in attendance, whilst vocal stabs and swirling samples lead to several hypnotising climaxes. Clubbers beware: this one is relentless.
Just Be aka Bushwacka steps up for the final remix offering and stays closer to the original whilst bringing an otherworldly vibe to the party, with eerie synth melodies and cosmic sweeps taking centre stage. An infectious builder, the track picks up some serious steam throughout and is sure to have dance floors shifting by the end.

    Just Be - Annabelle (CRM101)

Next up on Crosstown Rebels comes the second outing for British institution Matthew ‘Bushwacka’ B under new guise Just Be. The ‘Annabelle’ release is a rumbling jungle of percussion. From moody and deep to down right stormy, these are high-octane cuts that deserve a cave rave soundsystem.
Title track ‘Annabelle’ is a dubby, atmospheric late night jam with grubby sub-bass snarl and morphing bleeps and effects weaved around molten vocal cuts. As the muffled voice creeps up from the abyss, all elements work in hypnotic symbiosis for the dancefloor.
On the B-side, ‘More and More’ gets two incarnations. The ‘house mix’ works an irresistible tribal roll, a loop of twinkling keys raining on Bushwacka’s signature drums. Deftly layering touches of the strange with disembodied vocals, Bushwacka certainly has an intrinsic gift for unearthly moods. In the ‘deep mix’ the percussive storm takes hold again as dark stabs puncture abstract, eerie melodies.
An integral figure in UK rave culture, Matthew B aka Bushwacka! and the man behind The End Soundsystem and esteemed duo Layo & Bushwacka! is still on a tireless mission to make people dance, settling for now on doing so as Just Be. Having emerged in the late 80s, making his indelible mark as a DJ with four residencies in London every weekend most notably at the legendary End nightclub that became his spiritual home for 14 years, Matthew was catapulted into the International circuit. Making music was always in Matthew’s blood however and the artist has a phenomenal six artist albums under his belt (a seventh on the way this year) as well as over 120 remixes, and 160 tracks. Moniker Just Be is making its mark on 2012 with releases signed, sealed and delivered on Get Physical, Maison D’Etre, Plus 8, and Intec Digital and with gigs at some of the best clubs and festivals on the circuit.
