Crosstown Rebels Presents Spirits (CRMLP035S)

A four track vinyl sampler of the new compilation series from Crosstown Rebels, allow us to introduce Spirits. Label Founder Damian Lazarus has compiled what he describes as "a fresh psychedelic journey into the mind", aiming to bring together a collection of new artists from both his imprints.

Opening up is Audiojack's "Reverie"; a heavy kick from the start is succeeded by spoken word on the subject of meditation sets the scene appropriately. Dubspeeka's "Lyssa" is next up with a sturdy bassline, eerie synths and a haunting melody reminiscent of yesteryear.

On the flip and Alice Rose seduces in "Another Way" produced by Raw District. Her voice, similar to that of Björk, perfectly encompasses the heavy bassline and hard-hitting percussion. Finally, "Be Mine" by SIOPIS featuring Ellbee Bad gets straight into the action with hard-hitting reverberated low notes, steadily building up through sentimental vocals and enticing synthesis.

Audiojack & Kevin Knapp - Implications (CRM181)

Long standing collaborators Audiojack & Kevin Knapp join forces with Implications. Their strongest release to date comes equipped with a remix from musical heavyweight Martin Buttrich.

"With each passing year it becomes more apparent to me that Audiojack are my music brothers. We are in the groove with the projects we approach and I get excited every time we start something new together." Kevin Knapp.

Releasing together for the first time on Crosstown Rebels, Audiojack & Kevin Knapp strengthen their position within the electronic scene with Implications. Knapp's vocals are center stage as he sings about experimentation and letting go. Grammy nominee Martin Buttrich delivers a fired up remix with added groove and playful percussion that flips the mood of the track.

The final production on the release, 6EQUJ5, was inspired by the alphanumeric sequence also known as the wow signal; a radio signal received by astronomers in 1977. "That had all the expected hallmarks of alien communication" Audiojack explains. "The track imagines travelling trough space at unimaginable speeds and the things you might encounter along the way'.

Fresh off the back from his release on sister label Rebellion, Kevin Knapp returns to the Crosstown family and continues to carve out his own sound. Founders of Gruuv, Audiojack have released on some of the biggest labels whilst recording their first BBC Essential Mix in 2016.

Audiojack - Turya (CRM164)

Recently appearing on the mighty Crosstown Rebels with a remix of Shaun J. Wright & Alinka 'Face The Truth', thought after duo Audiojack are back serving up a solid two track release in the form of 'Turya'.

'Turya' is built for serious heads down sessions fusing subtle acid pads with soaring synths and sonorous spoken words. On the flip 'Event Horizon' sits on a low slung groove as hypnotic keys fade in and out of play.

'The idea of 'Turya' came from doing a guided meditation'. Richard of the Audiojack duo explains. 'We wanted to explore whether the hypnotic quality of the teacher's words could work on the dance floor, allowing people to lose themselves in them and it's evolving groove. Seeing people dancing with their heads down and eyes closed is the perfect complement for this track. 'Event Horizon' is a different beast altogether. It came from us experimenting with a heavy drum & bass vibe, a four-four format, and a classic "amen" break beat style.'

In 2015 Audiojack launched their Sunday Social free party at Velo Club in their home of Ibiza, which after a strong season will continue this year. Their first Essential Mix recently dropped on Radio 1 and a string of highly successful releases and remixes on labels such as Hot Creations, Tsuba, 20/20Vision and their own Gruuv have solidified their place in the dance music elite. It is safe to say that 2016 is proving to be a big year for the talented duo.

Shaun J. Wright & Alinka - Face The Truth (CRM156)

Shaun J. Wright & Alinka lay down their Chicago flavor on Crosstown Rebels with "Face The Truth". The release features three originals with hot properly Audiojack in the remix.

Wright, formely of Hercules & Love Affair, provides the vocals to each track with rich, sultry tones timely placed across heavy basslines, hypnotic rhythms and high energy percussion. Wright & Alinka explain 'after spending several months abroad (Alinka in Europe, Shaun in Australia) we were both newly charged and eager to get back to work. Fusing the classic sounds of Chicago with freshly gained perspectives of dance music around the globe, this EP was birthed from spontaneous experimentation and the well-versed exchange developed within a long standing collaboration.'

Shaun J. Wright & Alinka met in 2012 and launched into global success with their first EP, 'Twirl Volume 1', on Luke Solomon & Derrick Carter's famed Classic Music Company. A series of successful releases and remixes ensued with follow up 'Twirl Volume 2' dropping only last year. In 2013 the pair launched their twirl party series, which featured guests such as Eli Escobar, Derrick Carter, The Black Madonna and DJ Samson. In 2014, they expanded the Twirl brand into a record label and their debut release 'Journey Into The Deep' received a wealth of support including Radio 1's Annie Mac and Heidi.

Celebrating ten years of making music, Leeds bred, Ibiza based Audiojack recently released 'Vibrate' with Kevin Knapp on Hot Creations. New releases are set to follow on 2020Vision, Tsuba and their own Gruuv.
